BARK at the K!

Hi Dog Lovers and Baseball Fans-

Since it's technically still Baseball season (Jeter and I are patiently waiting to celebrate the Yankees winning the World Series in the Bronx), I thought I would let you all know about a great event at Kauffman Stadium.

On Sunday, September 27 our very own KC Royals hosted their first Bark at the K event. This was a great opportunity for dog loving Royals fans to enjoy America's pastime with their 4 legged friends. Brad, Zadie, Jeter and I met up with our good friends Jessica & Dan, plus Molly and Remy for some tailgating and Royals. Not only did we have a great time at the game, but each dog received a Royals Dog Bowl, and part of our ticket price was a donation to the Greater Kansas City Humane Society, Half Way Home Pet Adoptions and Wayside Waifs.

Brad and I had the pleasure of meeting Scott Gentry, his wife and their four legged pup! Scott owns his own photography business, Image-N-Photography and he showered our dogs with treats and their very own commemorative Bark at the K picture. Scott took the picture above of Jeter and this one of Brad and Zadie.

You can see more of his work at; http://www.imagenphotography.biz/.

If you missed out this year, make sure you check the 2010 Royals Schedule for the 2nd Bark at the K!

Advice Needed . . . A dog that doesn't like Bikes

Hello All,

This is Liz, and I am writing because I need advice! We have a Rhodesian Ridgeback with a "crazy" bad habit, she hates bikes. She goes nuts, anytime someone comes by us on a bike, which is completely embarrassing. I am sure I am the lady on the walking/biking trail, with the crazy dog that people talk about. Worst of all, I make dog treats, my dogs are suppose to be extra well behaved because I am around dogs all the time, Right! WRONG, she is out of control, and I am afraid one of these days she is going to jump at someone, scare them and make them fall off their bike. It will be awful!

I looked online, to check the Dog Whisperers schedule and he is only taking cases for the next season, in Colorado Springs and Southern California. I figured if we sent in a video, we would forsure make the cut. However, we are Kansas City, so the Dog Whisperer is out. I am hoping that one of you will have words of wisdom for us . . . or be willing to ride your bike by Nati several times until she breaks her habit! Let me know if your interested!

Please help! I am afraid we might be the first family banned from the walk/bike trail! If I have met-up with any of you, I apologize now for our previous meeting and ahead of time should we meet on the trail!

The Monster Mash!

What do a 3 lb. cow and a land shark have in common?

They both had a spooktacular time at our 2nd annual Hounded Howl-o-ween Party! We also had the opportunity to see Zoe transform from a lady bug last year to a cute little pea pod in 2009, Miss Jeter was a skittish little squirrel complete with an acorn and last but not least we had lobster at lunch! Yep, J.B. Farwell (Jeter’s Boyfriend) attended his first dog party ever and did so as a lobster.

I think I can speak for everyone at the party when I say that we all had a GRRReat time! That includes us owners, for it’s not every day that we see a Lobster chasing a Shark in a backyard or a pea pod that is bigger than a cow! We made sure there was a lot of running, chasing and sniffing during the party. This way, we could successfully send each dog home completely tuckered and with some yummy treats! Mission accomplished.

Don’t Forget the Dog would like to thank all of you for attending our Hounded Howl-o-ween Party and we hope you had a great time! For those of you that couldn’t make it, please send us pictures of your dogs in costume.

We look forward to seeing you next Howl-o-ween!

Paws With A Cause Weekend

This weekend Don't Forget the Dog, LLC is celebrating life, both human and pet! We are celebrating the important role our dogs play in the healing process, by donating 50% of all ”Paws with a Cause” treat sales to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure® fund through one of our biggest fans Mom, Missy Blundell!

This November, our friend Zoe’s Mom, and her team the Golden Girls will be participating in the Breast Cancer 3-Day® walk, a 60-mile walk which takes place over the course of three days and honors our loved onnes, the ones we have lost, the ones who are still fighting, and the ones who have survived.

To help support Zoe and her mom, and thank your dog for the important role they play in making you smile, we hope you will come out this weekend and purchase a hand dipped pink ribbon treat from Don’t Forget the Dog, LLC! Treats will be available at the Shawnee Farmers Market from 7:00 a.m. – Noon and at Lenexa’s Tails on the Trails event from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th!

Bitty B!

Hey Don't Forget The Dog Fans, Liz and I would like to introduce our newest 4 legged treat eater! The one and the only.....Bitty B!

Bitty B is a 4.5 yr. old chihuahua weighing in at 10lbs and hails from Missouri. He is currently testing out our popular mutt-n-honey and vegedog treats. I've also been told that if he is extremely good and stays out of ALL fishing equipment, he will get to spend the weekend munching on some Guilty Pleasures! BOW WOW!

Bitty B will also be turning 5 on June 15th!

Happy Early Birthday Bitty B!

Also, tomorrow is the first Saturday for the Shawnee Farmers Market! Rain or shine, we would love to see you at the Don't Forget the Dog Booth!

Take care and stay dry,

Jan

April Showers bring...

April showers bring quite an array of activities for Don't Forget the Dog and Jeter Jeter Redsox Eater! Where should I begin...how bout the start of BASEBALL season! Jeter is an extremely happy pug now that she sees her baseball idol - Derek Jeter- on TV almost every day.

Jeter and Zadie also attended their very first Easter party at Woof's Play and Stay last weekend. Zadie was not able to stay for very long due to her hyper activity. However, Jeter took full advantage of party time. She collected easter eggs from different vendors and got a really cool zany bird from Pet Junkie. Here favorite part of the day was her picture with the Easter Bunny!

Last but not least, Jeter is turning 2 on Saturday! She's pretty excited about her special day and she gets her very own doggy cake!

Don't Forget the Dog will be back at the Shawnee Farmer's Market starting Saturday, May 2nd!

When Irish Dogs Are Smiling . . .

Who said St. Patrick's Day was only for the Guiness Drinking, cornbeef and cabbage eating, freckled, red headed lads...everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's day including the mutts in your life. All dogs deserve a few of our Blarney Bites to help celebrate the holiday. But be careful with these, too many can result in a group of hounds "shamrockin" all night long. Nothing says "top o' the mornin" like a delicious treat from Don't Forget the Dog.
