Puppy Shower 101 . . .

Jan and I were asked to put together treats for a puppy shower recently. What a blast! We put together mini variety packs wrapped in brown and pink ribbon for Zoe and friends to enjoy! And displayed them in one of our "official" Don't Forget the Dog treat jars. It was Darling!!

When I dropped the treats off, I knew I had to share with all of you about the decorations, food, party games, and set-up. Nicki, the party host had put together a fabulous party for her friend Missy and new dog Zoe! No detail was left out. So of course I asked Nicki to share with us. Here you go, all you need to plan your next puppy shower!

Tips for throwing a "woof-n" good time!

Invite:
It is all about the invite, here are a couple of phrases to steal:
It's (Dog's Name)Paw-ty and she can Bark if she wants to!!
Paws...and join us for a puppy shower.
It’ll be a Doggone good time!

The registry:
Go ahead and register, humans do! Target, Amazon, Walmart, if they have a registry and dog items, make up your list!

Music:
Create the mood, find a dog cd and play it in the background. Mix it with your favorite tunes and create a playlist that is enjoyed by pups and owners both!

Food:
Human Food with a "Mutty" twist. It is all about the name. Be creative and have fun, you will be amazed at what you come up with:
Pupcakes – use your favorite cupcake mix, decorate with a solid color frosting. Ad paws by using junior mints and mini m&ms. For the princess, use red on some for a painted nail look.
Zoe’s in a Blanket – it is all in the name, a play on the old pigs in a blanket. mini wieners and croissants.
Cinnamon Roll-over Cookies - snicker doodles
Pooch Pretzels – pretzels dipped in chocolate or served with mustard dip
Cheddar Chomps – Cheetos and chex mix
Peanut Mutter & Jelly Bones - cut peanut butter and jelly sandwiches using a bone cookie cutter.
Puppy chow - the party snack that we have all loved for years!

Be sure to label all items using place cards, serve in dog dishes to add flare!

Decorations:
Table runners: Use brown mailing wrap, stamp with paws, bones, and other fun dog items.
Party Signs: Front Door - Welcome to the Paw-ty. Back of Door - lots of licks see you soon. Backdoor– Beware: extremely cute dawg on the premises.
Flowers: decorate vases with leashes, dog collars, or a doggie shirt.
Additional Touches:Paw wrapping paper and ribbon to add that extra special effect. If you have a pet, make sure all of your pets items are out and about!

Games:
Pupperiffic Advice: Have guests share their pet advice, any fun pet stories, or just give some advice. Stamp advice sheets with a paw and put into a photo album with pictures from the shower.
Pin the Tail on the guest of honor: game – blow up a picture of the new pup,use felt for tails.
Tic-Tac-Dog – Be the first person to spell the word D-O-G.

Party Favors:
Last, but not least doggie bags filled with Don’t forget the Dog treats, pet info., and toys!
